Internationalization “Abroad” or Transnational Education refers to the migration/dislocation of campuses or units from their “home” source. A classic example of internationalization abroad/transnational education is the “branch campus,” or outpost of a university, such as New York University-Abu Dhabi. However, these terms can also refer to mobile programs/online programs, research units, or teaching units, in which the program or unit is available in multiple locations or within an integrated new unit, such as an “education city.”
