GlobalEd Request for Book Review Proposals
Over the last decade, the field of international and global education has continued to grow, with calls to increase collaboration and resource sharing within the field.
We are seeking to grow a robust collection of book reviews of recent books – as well as journal special issues – in the field. We are therefore issuing this request for book review proposals. A list of suggested books or special issues to review is below. Proposals for this cycle are due by February 15, 2023.
We accept proposals for feature essays covering more than one text, genre or discipline, as well as short book reviews.
Guidelines for Proposal Submission
- Features review and compare 3-5 books or articles in 1,000-1,500 words. The feature should address the applicability of the books to the field of international and global education and draw upon your background and experiences as a student, researcher, practitioner or combination of all three. Your proposal should include a short abstract of your approach to the essay as well as a list of books/articles you are reviewing.
- Short book reviews of a single book should be 500-800 words. Proposals for single book reviews should simply state the title of the book and your estimated completion date for your review.
- Proposals should be emailed to globaledinbox@gmail.com by February 15, 2023. We will then follow up with potential reviewers to discuss deadlines.
- Unfortunately, GlobalEd does not provide review copies. Please contact the publisher for review copies.
- Published reviews earn a $75 compensation for features and $50 for short book reviews.
Proposals are considered and reviewed by the GlobalEd book review editorial team (Peter Simpson and Bryan McAllister-Grande).
We have identified seven categories that may serve to organize the focus of reviews, listed below with book recommendations. You may also select a recent book (published within the last 3-4 years) not on this list.
